"Jacky Chan" Richardson helps Carolina Railhawks to 3-0 win

Guyanese forward Gregory "Jacky Chan" Richardson, waived by the Colorado Rapids one week ago, assisted USL-1 team Carolina Railhawks to a 3-0 win over Wilmington Hammerheads.

Guyana "Lady Jags" Women Football team impress in T & C Tournament

The Guyana Women's Footbal team known as the "Lady Jags" lost in the Final and finished second in the recently held Turks and Caicos Football Festival.
The team was made up of fourteen (14) players based in North America and four (4) based in Guyana.
 
Technical Staff:  Technical Director: Mark Rodrigues; Coaches: Rohan Naraine, Chris Brown, Ali Tabrizi

One year after his official appointment as the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Women’s National Development Officer, Mark Rodrigues is seeing his vision and hard work become a reality.

Guyana's Sachia Vickery signed by Lagardere-Unlimited

She has been endorsed by none other than Richard Williams and if you don’t know who that is then you are not a lawn tennis fan.

She has also won a scholarship to the famous Nick Bolletteri Academy in Bradenton, USA and has racked up a slew of accolades including winning her first International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) Girls’ 18 years and under event.

Former Jaguar Coach Dover relishing working in professional environment

Former coach of the Golden Jaguars team Wayne `Wiggy’ Dover says he is relishing working in his new professional environment.

Since relinquishing ties with the Golden Jaguars and Alpha United football teams, where he served as head coach, Dover, along with Kavin Pearce, have landed contracts with Caledonia AIA in Trinidad and Tobago.

Newly-appointed coach of Guyana’s senior national football team Paul James told Stabroek Sport yesterday that although his side failed to come up with a win at the recently-concluded Parbo Bier Cup in Suriname, he was generally satisfied with their performance.

GSDF Guyana Representative Lawrence Griffith appointed Manager of 'Golden Jaguars'

The Guyana Football Federation has appointed Lawrence “Sparrow’ Griffith as Manager of the Senior National Team “The Golden Jaguars”. The team is expected to leave Guyana for Suriname on Monday 1st June 2009 for the Bi Annual Parbo Bier Cup 2009. The other teams participating are Antigua, French Guiana and the Host.

Overseas-based Guyanese forms Academy in Kingston

A former member of the now defunct Kingston Football Club, Junior Forrester, now residing in the USA has recently started a process to install an academy in the area and residents of that area are currently benefiting from the initiative. The academy was recently opened and Forester says that he is pleased with the response.

Guyana Overseas-based Women's Football to Kick-Off
-scheduled to participate in Turks & Caicos U20 Festival Tournament

In a release from the Mr. Colin Baker, President of the Guyana Sports Development Foundation, the Guyana Overseas-based Women’s Football Program is set to kick-off in June with the National Team being scheduled to participate in a four-team tournament hosted by the Turks & Caicos Football Federation.

Baltimore, MA (SMS) – It’s surfs up for Guyana’s football (soccer), literally.

Riding on the recent waves of favourable news, counting the past week’s report of the ‘WIN with CONCACAF in CONCACAF project’, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) is poised to ride another crest when it introduces the sport of Beach Soccer, locally.

Lawrence "Sparrow" Griffith appointed GSDF Representative in Guyana

The Guyana Sports Development Foundation, Incorporated, (GSDF) a non-profit organization based in Florida, United States of America has appointed Lawrence ‘Sparrow’ Griffith as the GSDF Representative in Guyana.

In a letter dated March 1st 2009 signed by Colin Barker who is the president of the GSDF and addressed to Griffith, it said in part, “On behalf of the Guyana Sports Development Foundation, Inc, I would like to officially appoint you as the GSDF’s Representative”.

Junior Forrester
Overseas-based Guyanese launches Soccer Academy

With the aim of giving back to his community, overseas-based Guyanese Junior Forrester has returned home to launch the Kingston grassroots soccer academy.

Born and bred in the Kingston community before departing these shores 16 years ago, Forrester said that this is a fulfillment of his dream of getting the children in the Kingston area off the streets and to direct their attention to something that is worthwhile and enjoyable.

Jerome joins Jaguars's US-based band...

The band of brothers … make that, ballweaving brothers, or rather soccer siblings … is growing.  And, the ink is barely dry on one contract, before another Guyanese star nets another goal to play professional soccer in the USA. 
The latest addition is striker Randolph ‘Blackhead’ Jerome who joins the growing list of Golden Jaguars players to ink a deal with a US club, following closely on the signing by colleague Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson to represent the Colorado Rapids.
