Guyanese Footballers set for tryouts in North America USL League
Three Guyanese footballers will get the opportunity to be exposed to a higher level of football when they try out for various USL teams beginning at the end of January.
The players are Walter Moore, Kester Jacobs, Brion Baker and Kevin Beaton.
This is being made possible by Guyana Football Federation USA based representative Garth Nelson.
The Guyana Football Federation Women's Pre-World Cup Football tournament was a huge success in every way including promotion of Women's Football in Guyana. The tournament teams were Guyana North America, Guyana Local and Suriname. The final standing was in that order. The Technical staff will now select a joint Guyana team for Women's World Cup Qualifiers for early 2010.

As the time draws near
for the upcoming female multi nation football tournament next month,
the locally based Lady Jaguars will take their preparations to a higher
level from December 4, according to Head Coach, Bilall Namtambu.
The
previous squad of 48 players was trimmed to 26 following two days of
trails last weekend at the Georgetown Football Club ground.

Guyana Women's Football team Assistant and GoalKeeper Coach Ali Tabrizi has been appointed Assiatant coach at Campbell University. Ali was the GoalKeeper coach for the "Lady Jags" team that was successfull in the recently held Turks & Caicos Football Festival.
Ali now joins fellow "Lady Jags" coaches holding coaching positions at Universities in North America. Excitement galore as Beach Soccer returns to Linden
Approximately two months subsequent to the inaugural beach soccer competition in Linden, football buffs were treated to another exciting encounter when the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA), in conjunction with the Guyana Football Federation and Garth Nelson of the USA, hosted a similar event at the Bayrock Ground, Wismar Linden Monday last.
After Friday’s 3-0 win over Wilmington, Carolina coach Martin Rennie was asked about Gregory Richardson, the Guyanese international forward on trial with the RailHawks.
Richardson was an absolute menace on the left flank the entire first half, and he set up Kupono Low’s 35th-minute goal with some fancy footwork and a nice centering pass.
“I don’t want to say too much about him because he’s on trial,” Rennie said. “I don’t want people to know he’s here, but he’s good. I think a lot of teams, if they knew he was here, they’d be interested.”
If other teams are interested, they missed their chance.

GSDF Guyana Representative Lawrence Griffith appointed Manager of 'Golden Jaguars'
The Guyana Football Federation has appointed Lawrence “Sparrow’ Griffith as Manager of the Senior National Team “The Golden Jaguars”. The team is expected to leave Guyana for Suriname on Monday 1st June 2009 for the Bi Annual Parbo Bier Cup 2009. The other teams participating are Antigua, French Guiana and the Host.
A former member of the now defunct Kingston Football Club, Junior Forrester, now residing in the USA has recently started a process to install an academy in the area and residents of that area are currently benefiting from the initiative. The academy was recently opened and Forester says that he is pleased with the response.

Lawrence "Sparrow" Griffith appointed GSDF Representative in Guyana
The Guyana Sports Development Foundation, Incorporated, (GSDF) a non-profit organization based in Florida, United States of America has appointed Lawrence ‘Sparrow’ Griffith as the GSDF Representative in Guyana.
In a letter dated March 1st 2009 signed by Colin Barker who is the president of the GSDF and addressed to Griffith, it said in part, “On behalf of the Guyana Sports Development Foundation, Inc, I would like to officially appoint you as the GSDF’s Representative”.
With the aim of giving back to his community, overseas-based Guyanese Junior Forrester has returned home to launch the Kingston grassroots soccer academy.
Born and bred in the Kingston community before departing these shores 16 years ago, Forrester said that this is a fulfillment of his dream of getting the children in the Kingston area off the streets and to direct their attention to something that is worthwhile and enjoyable.
The band of brothers … make that, ballweaving brothers, or rather soccer siblings … is growing. And, the ink is barely dry on one contract, before another Guyanese star nets another goal to play professional soccer in the
